Magomed 'Chanco' Zaynukov Reflects on the UFC 322 Brawl: 'It Wasn't Enough'
Magomed Zaynukov, the undefeated MMA prospect, had no regrets about his recent brawl with Dillon Danis. The incident occurred at the Madison Square Garden in New York during the UFC 322 event, where Zaynukov's teammate, Islam Makhachev, challenged Jack Della Maddalena for the welterweight title. The brawl, which involved several members of Makhachev's team, including Zaynukov, and Danis, resulted in all parties being removed from the event.
In a recent interview, Zaynukov described the incident and his reaction to Danis' actions. He expressed frustration over Danis' online behavior, including posts about Makhachev and Khabib, which Zaynukov perceived as disrespectful. Zaynukov emphasized the importance of accountability in their culture, stating, 'He has to answer for everything that is said, and he allowed himself to do such things.'
Despite not divulging the specifics of Danis' comments, Zaynukov highlighted the personal nature of their response. He mentioned that Danis' actions were not just about creating hype but seemed to be driven by a different set of principles. Zaynukov added, 'We seem to have different principles. For some people, it's probably just hype. But it's not for us. It's not hype.'
The brawl, while intense, did not result in any serious injuries. UFC CEO Dana White announced that Danis was banned from future UFC events, and Zaynukov sustained minor scratches on his knuckles. However, Zaynukov believed that the response was not proportional to Danis' actions, stating, 'I think it was not enough. This was not enough for him. In terms of what he’s done, it’s not much.'
Zaynukov, who recently signed with the UFC after a win on Contender Series in October, is an undefeated prospect with a promising future in the MMA world.
