Get ready for an exciting transformation at Hollywood Studios! The Walt Disney Studios Courtyard is undergoing a rapid renovation, with some attractions set to open as early as Summer 2026. This refreshed area, formerly known as the Animation Courtyard, is shaping up to be a magical experience for all.
A Sneak Peek at the Construction
Aerial photos reveal the progress, and it's impressive! Concrete forms are taking shape near the center, and walkways are being poured at the Disney Jr. building. A temporary tent adds to the bustling atmosphere.
In front of the Disney Jr. Building, fresh concrete lines the sides, preparing for the debut of Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! This exciting addition is part of the Cool Kids' Summer lineup.
The center courtyard is a hive of activity, with various forms and dirt work. This area will transform into a lush garden, offering shade and seating.
In the image, you can spot the Disney Jr. building at the bottom, The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure building at the top, and the former Star Wars Launch Bay on the right.
But here's where it gets interesting...
A Trip Down Memory Lane
Before Star Wars Launch Bay took over, when Hollywood Studios first opened in 1989, guests had a unique opportunity to tour the park's active production studios. It was here that classics like Lilo & Stitch and other Walt Disney Animation Studios films were brought to life. Later, this space became home to the Magic of Disney Animation until 2015, when Star Wars Launch Bay moved in.
Now, in 2026, the full experience will return, offering a place where kids and adults alike can immerse themselves in animation. The attraction will feature a Mickey's Sorcerer Hat facade, similar to the Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank, California, and an interior reimagined to reflect the Disney Animation headquarters.
Except for The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure, the Animation Courtyard has been closed since September to make way for these fantastic new attractions.
